چکیده

With the ongoing expansion and growth of electric power industry, the use of power flow controllers is becoming more prevalent in modern power systems. The needs for system enhancement trigger the advancement of FACTS technology which offers superior features in increasing system stability and performance. Devices like TCSC can reduce line reactance significantly and thus enhance the maximum power flow capability of line. Clearly, the use of these devices can introduce significant implications on LMP and hence FTR allocations. This paper demonstrates the LMP volatility due to congestion and its direct impact on transmission congestion charges. The paper also demonstrates the potential impacts of FACTS devices on line congestion charges. Impacts of FACTS devices on transmission congestion charges is analysed using DC load flow model on IEEE 14-bus test system. Keywords— Restructuring, Financial transmission rights (FTR), Locational marginal pricing (LMP), Thyristor controlled series capacitors (TCSC)
